Our Services

Three services,
each with a clear purpose

We do not offer a broad menu of legal options. We offer three services designed specifically for the family situations we understand well — each with a fixed fee and a structured approach.

Our Methodology

How we approach each matter

Every engagement at Pelangi Adil follows the same underlying pattern: we listen carefully, set out the legal position honestly, and then work within the client's chosen course of action with the care and attention it deserves.

We do not push clients toward proceedings they have not decided upon. We do not accelerate matters for the firm's convenience. And we do not produce generic documents where a client's situation requires something specific.

Quality assurance is built into the process: every document is reviewed before it leaves the office, every communication is checked for accuracy, and every client receives a written summary after each stage.

1

Initial enquiry and response

We respond to all enquiries within one working day. A brief telephone or written exchange helps us understand the nature of the matter before a session is scheduled.

2

Session or engagement

We meet in person at our Georgetown office. The session follows a structure appropriate to the service chosen, with adequate time for the client to speak without interruption.

3

Written summary and next steps

After each stage, the client receives a written summary of what was discussed and what, if anything, follows. The client decides whether to proceed further.

4

Ongoing communication

For multi-session engagements, we maintain regular written contact and are available by telephone during office hours throughout.

Service One

Listening Session for Couples in Difficulty

RM 320  fixed fee

A respectful, fixed-fee session for couples who are uncertain whether they wish to pursue legal steps. Each spouse is given equal time to describe their situation; the lawyer listens, sets out the relevant Malaysian framework in plain English, and offers a candid view on whether legal involvement is likely to help. Many couples use the session to gain perspective rather than to begin proceedings.

What the session covers

  • Equal, structured time for each spouse to speak
  • Plain-English overview of the relevant Malaysian law
  • An honest view on whether legal steps are likely to help
  • A written summary of the session's key points
  • No obligation to proceed to any further engagement

Typical timeline

The session itself is approximately two hours. The written summary is provided within two working days. Most couples come away with a significantly clearer sense of their options within a single session.

Service Two

Application for Domestic Protection Order

RM 720  fixed fee

Patient, careful representation in applications for protection orders under the Domestic Violence Act 1994, with full attention to the client's safety, privacy, and emotional state. The firm coordinates with social welfare officers and the police where appropriate, prepares the application with care, and supports the client through hearings without unnecessary urgency. Communication is in plain English with regular written updates.

What the service includes

  • Careful preparation of the protection order application
  • Attendance and representation at all required court hearings
  • Coordination with social welfare officers and police where needed
  • Full attention to the client's safety, privacy, and pace
  • Regular written updates throughout the process

Typical process

An interim protection order may be sought urgently at the initial court hearing. The full process — from application to final order — typically runs several months, depending on the matter's complexity and the court schedule. We will set out the expected timeline honestly at the outset.

Service Three

Long-Term Co-Parenting Framework

RM 980  multi-session engagement

A multi-session engagement for separated parents who wish to put a workable, written co-parenting framework in place for the years ahead. Covers schedules, school decisions, religious observances, communication norms, and the handling of unexpected events. The firm coordinates with experienced family mediators where this would be helpful and produces a final framework that both parents can refer back to in good faith.

What the framework covers

  • Day-to-day and holiday parenting schedules
  • School enrolment and education decisions
  • Religious observances and practices
  • Communication norms between parents
  • Procedures for handling unexpected or emergency situations
  • Coordination with family mediators where appropriate
  • A final written document both parents sign and retain

Typical timeline

Most co-parenting frameworks are completed across three to five sessions over four to eight weeks. The pace is set by the parents and what their situation requires, not by an artificial schedule.

Need protection from domestic violence
Seeking legal protection as a safety measure

Standards Across All Services

What every client can expect, regardless of which service they choose

Strict Confidentiality

All information shared with Pelangi Adil is held in confidence and will not be disclosed without your written consent, except where Malaysian law requires otherwise.

Written Documentation

Every session is followed by a written summary. Every commitment the firm makes is confirmed in writing. Every stage of a matter leaves a clear paper trail you can refer to.

Full Bar Compliance

All legal work is carried out in full compliance with the Legal Profession Act 1976 and the Malaysian Bar's Professional Conduct Rules and Etiquette.

Timely Response

We respond to all client communications within one working day. When nothing has changed, we say so — rather than leaving the client to wonder about the status of their matter.

No Pressure to Proceed

At every stage, the next step is yours to decide. We will tell you what we think, and we will tell you what your options are — but we will not push you toward a path you have not chosen.

Children's Welfare First

Where children are part of the picture, their welfare is a central consideration in our advice — not a secondary factor to be addressed after the adults' interests have been settled.

Ready to Speak With Us?

We are here when you are ready to talk

There is no pressure in making an enquiry. A first call or written message simply tells us a little about your situation, so we can confirm whether we are the right people to help.
